What happened in June and what's to come in July

June Highlights

Market at Lavenham Village Hall:  In June I participated in The Little Maker’s Market at a new venue—Lavenham Village Hall. The hall’s bright and airy atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for a variety of stalls and enthusiastic customers. I’m grateful to everyone who showed their support. Notably, my new flat-backed outside hanging pots made their debut, and the positive response has encouraged me to create some more.

Art Day at Thurston CE Primary School: A Heartwarming Experience - At Thurston CE Primary School, I had the pleasure of teaching over 300 students (aged 5 to 10) how to make pinch pots. Little did I know that they were researching me! Imagine my delight when I received a poem, double-page write-ups, and drawings related to my work. The day culminated in an assembly where a young lad eloquently declared, “Libbi is cool, happy, impressif, good, and amazing—she’s the best scurlocher (sculptor) ever.” My heart melted—it truly was an amazing experience.

Farewell to 12 Memorable Years at the Local College - Yesterday marked my final departure from the local college after 12 years. Throughout my tenure, I’ve had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students. Some have been by my side since day one, while others have gone on to establish their own pottery businesses. It warms my heart to know that each of them began their creative journey with a humble pinch pot and has since flourished in their clay-working skills. 🌟 Reflecting on this journey, I couldn’t be prouder. Here’s to new beginnings and cherished memories of my students! 🎨📚

What’s to come in July

Join Me at the 30th Annual Clare Priory Craft Fair! - 📅 Dates: July 13th & 14th 📍 Location: Clare Priory - Discover a delightful array of crafts set against the picturesque backdrop of Clare Priory’s beautiful grounds. This well-organized event features high-quality crafts, and this year, I’ll be showcasing pottery demonstrations on my potter’s wheel. I have lots of new stock and of course a market wouldn’t be the same without my cherished facepots who are coming along to find new homes too. Don’t miss the fun – see you there! 😊

🌟 Mud Club – New Venture 🌟 - I have some very exciting news. Starting on the 17th of July I will be starting my own community classes fondly named ‘Mud Club’.  This will be held at Culford Village Hall.  I enjoy teaching groups of students.  For the first 3 weeks we will be making by hand and working on projects in groups of 10, weeks 4 and 5 are going to be 2-1 in my studio with intense sessions on the potter’s wheel, weeks 6 to 8 are back working in the group refining, making and decorating the work.  There is a great chance to use lots of different types of clay including, porcelain, black clay, crank and paper-clay as well as our beloved white stoneware.  The course, tuition and glazes are covered by the fee however so I can offer lots of variety with the clay I have decided to sell the clay in 1kg bags, this will help with firing costs and will give people plenty of scope to experiment with different materials.  I have pottery tool available to purchase.  I am really excited about this venture, and it has already proved popular as there are only a few places left.  If you are interested, please find booking details and more information under the heading of ‘book a class’. 🏺
