Service Description
During this 2 hour a week 8-week course you will explore a range of pottery techniques covering hand building and throwing as well as experimenting with different methods of surface decoration. Six weeks of the course will run as a group concentrating on hand-building and decorative techniques. The other two weeks of the course will be 2-1 session concentrating on the potter’s wheel in my studio in Culford (please note these will be various dates, if you would like to discuss this before booking, please feel free to get in touch on my contact link). Projects will include slab building, pinch pots, coiling, surface decorating, texture and throwing. The sessions are designed to be fun and informal, offering a perfect escape from the daily stresses of life! This course is suitable for all skill levels, and you will receive ample support to achieve your objectives and create unique pieces that you’ll be proud to display in your home or give as gifts. The costs cover only tuition and glazes. Additional charges apply for the clay, which is sold in 1kg bags. A variety of stoneware clay is available at various prices giving you plenty of scope for your projects. Refreshments will be provided on a donation basis. What do I need to bring? • An apron • An old towel • A notebook and pen • Any pottery equipment you may have – please note I have very good beginner tool kits and other equipment available to purchase at reasonable prices. • A mug for a cuppa • An open mind and a head full of imagination The community classes will be held at Culford Village Hall where there are excellent facilities and plenty of parking. Please note that if you choose not to attend or complete the course after the term has commenced, I am unable to provide a refund.
